Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI)

Central Sector scheme of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (approved 31 March 2021, outlay ₹10,900 crore, implemented 2021-22 to 2026-27) to create global Indian food-manufacturing champions and promote Indian food brands internationally. It has three components: (i) incentivising manufacturing of four major food-product segments (ready-to-cook/ready-to-eat foods, processed fruits & vegetables, marine products, and mozzarella cheese); (ii) supporting innovative/organic products of SMEs in these segments; and (iii) supporting branding and marketing abroad of Indian food brands. Incentives are production-linked: selected applicants must achieve the minimum committed Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) in sales over the base year and the committed year-wise investment, and must use domestically grown agricultural produce (excluding additives, flavours and edible oils). Applications are invited through an Expression of Interest on the PLIS portal and appraised by a Project Management Agency; the Ministry approves selection, sanction and release of incentives.
